The Iran Question

Over at Jim Henley's place there's a pretty good discussion going on in this post about how to deal with Iran. While I don't normally just link to such things, a sizeable fraction of the verbiage over there is mine, so I feel justified in this instance. I will probably put together a summation post later in respone to the debate.

I apologize for only allowing authenticated commenters, but comment spam overwhelms the site if I don't use those measures to prevent it. I reserve the right to delete any comment, although generally comments will only be deleted due to use of profanity or personal attacks on people. I have no objection to vigorous argument, but when name-calling begins, I'm putting a stop to it. In the immortal words of Eugene Levy, "People, people, let's stop this before somebody says something untrue!" If you want to call people names, I recommend you get your own blog.

Interesting bunch of people at the site. You and Jim seem to be the only ones trying to hold a real discussion. The others seem bent on getting everyone else to admit that the Bush administration is uniformly evil. Reminds me of the discussion on creationism vs science. Faith is more important than perceived fact.

Your responses were admirably even tempered, but I have to wonder why you let them call you a Republica. Obviously, they have not been reading your blog.

It seemed fairly clear that evidence didn't really matter to some of the commenters, so I saw little point in trying to disabuse them of the notion I'm a Republican. I do not believe it would have changed the temper of the debate.
