« The Republican Party and Race | Main | The Danger of Nexis » December 23, 2002Sun Lawsuits, Inc.One wonders if Sun ever plans to develop products, or if they're just going to rely on lawsuits against Microsoft to keep their business alive. First, they wanted to keep Microsoft from using Java with Windows, so they got a court order for that. So Microsoft obeyed, and Sun discovered that without Windows, they had a big problem, so now they've gotten another court order forcing Microsoft to carry Java. I'm not an expert on computers or law, so perhaps I'm completely wrong here, but I have a hard time believing a court has any business deciding which programs need to be included in a computer operating system. If I want the latest version of Java, I can download it from the Java site. Why should Microsoft be told they have to include it or not by a court? The court would have done well to tell Sun to worry more about making good products, and less about how they'll sue Microsoft next. Posted at December 23, 2002 09:59 PM
