Army Strong

When I first heard that 'Army Strong' was replacing 'An Army of One' as the new recruiting slogan, I'll admit my first instinct was that we were just replacing one lousy phrase with another one. Army Strong doesn't sound right, and it certainly doesn't carry the cachet of 'Be All You Can Be.' But after watching the video on YouTube, I've got to admit to being impressed. Whoever put that together did a damn good job of capturing some of what makes Army service what it is, and what it can be.

I just hope that we can stay true to those ideals.

I reserve the right to delete any comment, although generally comments will only be deleted due to use of profanity or personal attacks on people. I have no objection to vigorous argument, but when name-calling begins, I'm putting a stop to it. apart from the culture clash - will you forgive me is my feminist toes curl when the only female soldier I saw is portraited in "get over yourself" as the person who has to accept help - because she appearantly is strong enough to realize she cannot do it herself?

Why would you require forgiveness?

I was brought up not to irritate people if I could avoid it - my mum lost the battle in the end but appearantly some of the reflexes remain :)

Well, as you should know by now, I am congenitally unable to not irritate people, so perhaps I'm more forgiving of such traits.

In the Netherlands I'm more or less in the centre, politically speaking. I think I can relate...

hmmm... my comment on the iraqi deaths / kerry thread are stopped because I didn't type in the (no longer existing) security code...??

It's fixed now. I'm afraid my comment system is thoroughly bollixed beyond my ability to repair.
