No Surrender, No Retreat

Michele has it precisely correct. As I observed several days ago, CBS will not let this bring them down. As long as they can continue to claim that the memos could have been produced in 1972, they will do so. And since they're the only ones who might be able to produce the originals, which is the only way to definitively answer the question, the will be no definitive proof that the documents are fake. They'll ride this out, and in another month, the issue will be gone, and Dan Rather will sitting in his anchor's chair on November 2d trying to hide his excitement or his disappointment.

Comment policy

I apologize for only allowing authenticated commenters, but comment spam overwhelms the site if I don't use those measures to prevent it. I reserve the right to delete any comment, although generally comments will only be deleted due to use of profanity or personal attacks on people. I have no objection to vigorous argument, but when name-calling begins, I'm putting a stop to it. In the immortal words of Eugene Levy, "People, people, let's stop this before somebody says something untrue!" If you want to call people names, I recommend you get your own blog.
