Gouging is Good

David M. Brown takes a look at store behavior during Hurricane Charley and makes an argument that will drive many people crazy: raising prices when demand is higher or supply is suddenly limited is a good thing. That sounds crazy, but if you read the article, Brown makes an excellent case for it. As with so many such arguments, what it comes down to in the end is whether a select elite should have the power to decide how to run the world, or if individuals should be permitted to be free. Longtime readers should have little doubt which side of the argument I stand on.
