They Also Serve...

Jeff Quinton is assembling a list of bloggers who served, and since I never miss a chance at self-promotion, I'm adding my name to the list. ;) Besides, I imagine my own triple threat of service, so to speak, is at least reasonably unusual in the blogosphere:

Service: Army National Guard, 1988-1989, Infantry
U.S. Army, 1992-2002, Armor
U.S. Army Reserve, 2002-Present, Armor.

Especially unusual triple-threat since the Reserve no longer has any combat arms units (I was going to say combat units, but that would dis all those CS/CSS guys dodging IEDs and RPGs and earning Purple Hearts, now wouldn't it?).

The Exercise Divisions are going to take some real gymnastics to keep credibly manned.

I'm fortunate enough to have found a branch-immaterial slot, which has kept me in the Reserves. Eventually I'm going to have to go back to the Guard, though, if I can't get back on active duty, so I can get some Armor battalion time.
