I've yet to find a Heinlein novel I haven't enjoyed, but there's no question Starship Troopers has always been my favorite. Although the blasting bugs part never really was my favorite part... Posted at September 8, 2003 09:35 PM

Posted by: Anne at September 10, 2003 03:38 PM I have high hopes it will will be made into a movie someday. (You've read Jim MacDonald's "Red Mike" review I've linked to a number of times, I hope?) Posted by: Gary Farber at September 12, 2003 03:41 PM Let me guess: you liked the scenes in Moral Philosophy class, and the lectures from Sgts. Zim, et al, best? (Do please understand that I think it's a brilliant book, and I'm a great admirer of it, even if though I figured out Heinlein's sleight-of-hand bits at an early age; this is why I'm so aggravated by the Verhoeven aggregation.) Posted by: Gary Farber at September 12, 2003 09:36 PM Gary, Of course those are the parts I liked best. They're what the book is about, after all. The bugs and the war are a great backdrop, but the H&MP stuff is the meat of the story. Posted by: Andrew at September 12, 2003 09:42 PM No disagreement. That's how I knew what I knew. :-) (That, and about thirty-five years worth of discussing the book with innumerable people, including many greats of the field.)
