History

Congratulations to the Rocket for finally winning number 300 at Yankee Stadium tonight. This doesn't mean much in the grand scheme, as Clemens is already one of the greatest pitchers who ever lived, but it's a great milestone that he certainly earned.

If only it hadn't come in a Yankees uniform.

I disagree. Yankee Stadium is a magical part of history, whether that history is good, bad or indifferent. It is more myth for the future generations.

One, I didn't say I wish it hadn't come at Yankee Stadium, only that I wish it hadn't come with Clemens in a Yankees uniform.

Two, if you're looking for a ballpark with history, than Fenway Park is the place. Where else can you see the dents created by balls struck by Ted Williams, Joe DiMaggio, Stan Musial, and dozens of other Hall of Famers?

I was all set to dislike you for complimenting Clemens, then you went and made the point about Fenway and wishing it hadn't happened in a Yankees uniform.

So you're alright in my book :)

Seriously, tho...Clemens is a hell of a pitcher, but he doesn't seem like all that decent of a guy. He mailed in his last 4 years in Boston (1 game over .500 for the period), was quite overweight, and then asked for huge money and perks. When the Sox refused, he said he was going to leave, but only if he could play in Texas, near his home - he ended up in Toronto, where he got in shape and won more games in 2 years then he'd won in the previous 4 in Boston. And then he went to the Yankees.

At least the Sox shelled him in the ALCS a few years back, with Pedro on the mound. That was fun to watch.
